If you are in the market for a new mouse, I have to recommend you check out Microsoft’s Wireless Laser 8000 Mouse.
Recently my Microsoft bluetooth mouse finally stopped functioning after many years of great service. It took me the better part of a month of mouse searching to replace it because I am very fickle about mice.
That search ended with the purchase of the 8000.

In my pursuit to rid my machine of the dreaded evil empire, I have recently been trying out some new open source software that is free:
Gom Player – I have used Windows Media Player for many years now and I ran into some roadblocks while trying to play different file formats. Since I was unable to make the codecs work for these particular files, I downloaded Gom Player which will view any type of video file that I have come across.
Foobar 2000 – Since I roundfiled Windows Media Player, I no longer had a good audio player. Foobar 2000 is awesome and doesn’t take near the system resources that WMP took.
Adolix Split and Merge PDF – After several discussions with my favorite tech guru – Bill Mullins, I decided there must be a more secure and system resource friendly PDF software. I landed on a few of them and Adolix is the answer to splitting and merging pdf files.
PDF Creator – PDF Creator is a tool to print to PDF which I certainly do a lot of. It sets up as a printer which for example will print a word document to a PDF file.
Foxit Reader – To top off the complete PDF package, you need to be able to view the PDF. Foxit Reader does just that. If you are used to Adobe Reader, this is the system resource friendly version. Highly Recommend to replace Adobe Reader with this excellent open source freeware.
Glow – To shine brightly and steadily.
Bull – A gross blunder in logical speech or expression.
Global – Of, relating to, or involving the entire earth; worldwide.
Our fish are dying, our fish are living. According to a new study, you need not be askeered anymore of coastal dead zones. They are actually now considered very much alive. Some smart chap decided to be a contrarian and study what is alive in “dead zones”. I think the results will unaskeer you.
On the growing algae front, the limey bastads down under are at it again. This time a “retired group” has figured out how to produce commercially viable biodiesel from, you guessed it, algae. Any venture capitalists out there?
Can you say “Instant”? Microsoft is asking folks if instant on is important. I’ve been voting a resounding YES all day. Microsoft, this is intel, Intel, this is microsoft. You two should talk.
On a personal front, I’ve spent the past 3 days in Wasilla looking at an upcoming job for one of our clients. I’ve never been to Alaska before. I’m not sure what it looks like as it snowed the whole time I was there. At this point I can’t recommend or suggest otherwise that you visit. If you like 25 degrees and snow, you should go. If not, don’t.
